Beginnings
BC ENTERPRISES actually began here in Methuen in 1993 offering the professional cleaning and restoration industry desktop publishing services, technician training, marketing, and organizational consultation services. Back then web design was a really new thing. Having served in that industry for years before in a former business and further back working with other firms, the owner became recognized in the area as an expert in that industry. Back then this very site was constructed to that end, as the Web was a new development and service on the internet at that time. Our site here was the very first in the world to serve that industry, and today is but one of very many as the proliferation of web pages naturally happened over time. During that period, we also authored and published two successful technical training manuals.
Software
In 1994 we published the first shareware HTML tutorial for DOS and Windows 3.1 which was very successful and was given a four-star rating by Ziff-Davis. It was made available worldwide, even with offers to have it translated into other languages. In the coming years, it was eventually rewritten and re-released in a 32-bit version with the arrival of Windows 95 and NT 4.0. Since then it had not been updated because of all the changes in the industry, especially with the then-prevalent web design browser wars between Microsoft and Netscape. Yikes - what horror. Keep your eyes open... it may just be in the works in the future.
Internet & HTML
Our internet-related work and web design was always interwoven amongst other facets of business. The owner served as a regular columnist for both a local ISP's newsletter and also a West-Coast based trade journal while learning the finer details of HTML. Our web authoring work and hosting over time had a slow beginning and growth because of the many types of work we had done then, and had been a challenge for us to market and do it along with everything else here in the office. But it has always been important to us, and for that reason we had begun marketing the small business and non-profit organizations who traded that understanding for their tighter budget. We are grateful to have had good, positive experience with our several short-term customers over time, as well as the wonderful relationships with our long-standing ones.
Goals
Our goals here are pretty simple and always have been: to provide excellent professional service with a very personal touch and caring attitude. In our world of e-mail, voice mail, answering machines, and corporate hierarchies, we feel it is just plain nice to be able to talk on the phone to our clients and work with them one on one. Our first step with them is always to learn about them individually and their work, and to pay attention to their needs and timeframes. Most of all, we are sensitive to their working budget. Contact us and ask for referrals or fill out a quote form to give us an idea what you'd like us to do for you.
